Mr. M. Cory Schmitt

M. Cory Schmitt is the Director of Bands grades 6-12 for the Forest City Community School District.  He is a native of Roanoke, Virginia and attended James Madison University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Instrumental music education in 2012.  Upon completion of his Bachelor's degree, Schmitt moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa and attended the University of Northern Iowa.  Among his several duties at UNI were serving as the Graduate Assistant of Athletic Bands, Director of the UNI Pep band, Director of the UNI Concert Band, performing in the UNI Wind Symphony and UNI Jazz Band One, and teaching a private trumpet studio of various students.  In 2014, Schmitt graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Music with concentrations in Wind Conducting and Trumpet Performance.

In 2014, Schmitt started his first official year of middle/high school teaching in Forest City, Iowa.  During his first year, the Forest City Marching Band earned their 34th consecutive Division I rating at the State Marching Contest in Fort Dodge.  The Forest City Concert Band was named "Best in Class" in class 3A at the Drake University Adventureland Concert Band Festival, and they earned their 34th consecutive Division I Rating at State Large Group Contest.
